We are a boutique plaintiff-side personal injury law firm practicing primarily in Missouri and Illinois. Our practice focuses on motor vehicle and trucking accidents, premises liability, daycare negligence, medical malpractice, and wrongful death matters.
Our approach is different from many firms. We intentionally maintain a selective caseload so that each matter receives significant attention and preparation. Our pre-litigation team plays a critical role in developing the evidence, documentation, and client relationships that drive successful outcomes, whether through settlement or litigation.
About the Role
The Pre-Litigation Paralegal is responsible for the day-to-day development and management of assigned cases from intake through demand. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients and helps ensure files move forward efficiently and consistently.
This is a caseload-carrying position. The successful candidate will independently manage a portfolio of pre-litigation matters under attorney supervision while collaborating closely with other members of the legal team.
Key Responsibilities
- Open new matters in the firm's case management system and coordinate intake documentation, authorizations, and welcome communications.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, responding to calls and messages, managing expectations, and documenting communications.
- Open and manage insurance claims and request records and documentation from insurance carriers and relevant agencies.
- Communicate and negotiate with insurance adjusters while maintaining accurate file documentation.
- Initiate and manage subrogation claims with health insurers, Medicare, and Medicaid, and track lien balances through resolution.
- Monitor client medical treatment, communicate with providers, and identify treatment gaps requiring attorney attention.
- Maintain organized, up-to-date files and ensure matters continue progressing toward resolution.
Qualifications
Required
- Excellent phone and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to interact with clients who may be experiencing stress, pain, or uncertainty.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Experience managing a caseload independently.
- Working knowledge of Missouri and Illinois personal injury, motor vehicle, and insurance-related processes.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and move matters forward without close supervision.
- Comfort working within case management software and learning new technology.
- Coachable mindset and willingness to accept feedback.
Preferred
- Spanish language proficiency.
- Familiarity with AI tools and emerging legal technology.
Compensation & Schedule
- Salary: $55,000-$60,000 base salary, plus bonus and benefits.
- Classification: Full-time, W-2 employee, overtime exempt.
- Work Location: In-office, St. Louis County area.
